I've learned Serbian with Jelena for more or less one year while I was working in Novi Sad. At the beginning I was completely beginner and after two years, thanks to her courses and the immersion in Serbia, I've reached the level B1. I strongly recommended her school because she knows how to make you learn fast and in an effective and concrete manner.

Anne-Claire Noel (France)

I met Jelena 10 years ago when I moved to Serbia, when I had already been facing difficulties finding an appropriate Serbian language professor. Jelena was the one to work out perfectly. Time with her was always entertaining, topics of our classes were chosen by her, guided by what was useful, yet still interesting. I will never forget the first essay I had to write. I was supposed to write 5 sentences about aliens and carnivores (which should not discredit Jelena as an expert whatsoever). The topic was weird, but it was the only way for Jelena to encourage me to use my language knowledge. Until then, I kept collecting grammatical rules and constructions and memorizing new words, without ever using them. And the most important thing about the language is its use. Jelena helped me speak Serbian and encouraged me to read Serbian books. I am so thankful for her help, patience (yes, I was never too fond of doing homework), and professionalism. Whenever someone compliments my Serbian, I always remember her and our classes.

Ksenia Kultysheva (Russia)

I have started my classes with Jelena a little over 6 months ago. I am truly amazed. For me, the most important thing was speaking and writing grammatically correct, as well as enriching my vocabulary. I have noticed progress after only one month. I feel more confident talking about complex topics, and my boyfriend pointed out that I make fewer mistakes. It was very important to me to find a professor with similar energy to mine, since I like learning through communication. With Jelena, we have the same vibe. Every week, I look forward to Friday and Serbian lessons. I am very happy and thankful that I have managed to find a professor like her.

I came to Serbia 5 years ago. Can you imagine my surprise when I heard the language and realized I couldn’t understand anything? There is a stereotype that Serbian and Russian are similar, but that is not true. Almost immediately, I was suggested Jelena. We had classes twice a week. I liked her immediately - she’s very open and communicative. She is a very amusing person. Jelena is always there to help, whether it is to translate difficult texts, or talk about Serbia and its customs. She always chooses interesting topics for our lessons, and I learn a lot from them. After a year, we had already gone through the most important lessons, and I didn’t have a problem talking to people in the bank, policlinic, kindergarten, street market, or a shop. Also, I have read my first Serbian book. I warmly recommend Jelena and the Language Centre Fluenta.

Guljnaz Salihova (Rusija)

Gulnaz Salikhova (Russia)

For a year and a half now, I’ve been studying two languages in the Language Centre Fluenta: English (to maintain my current level), and Serbian (from the beginning). I would like to say a couple of words regarding the quality of teaching in Fluenta. Firstly, there are truly professors! These people approach their lessons responsibly, and do not give the impression that they are only there to do their job. Lessons are very warm and friendly. Professors are truly happy for you and your accomplishments, and are always ready to help and further explain. I can honestly say that if you choose Fluenta, you are choosing professionals, as teachers and friends. I would also like to say a couple of words about the founder, Jelena Čančar. It’s impressive how understanding of the Russian way of thinking Jelena is. Her tasks are always very well thought-out and useful. She is well aware of the typical mistakes a Russian speaker might make, since she speaks Russian well herself. To have found yourself as Jelena’s student - such luck! Jelena has this amazing ability to make even the most shy student speak. After our classes, I am always smiling and in a good mood. I also have a desire to learn more. While studying with Jelena, you do not only learn a foreign language, but you also learn about the culture and traditions of the warm and welcoming country that is Serbia. You start falling in love with the country and its people. Our classes started mid-October last year, and now I can watch and understand Serbian movies, as well as participate in everyday conversations. If I can recommend one thing, it would be classes at the Language Centre Fluenta.

Vitaliy Bondarenko (Russia)

I’m really happy that you were recommended to me as a teacher. Before that, I had two attempts at learning Serbian (one month of group classes and one month with another teacher), but I gained neither real knowledge nor enjoyment. I wanted to find a teacher who would present the material in a way that would help me start speaking as quickly as possible. And voilà! After just two months of lessons with you, I was able to enroll my child in school, communicate with kindergarten teachers, deal with the police office (MUP), and so on. Of course, with mistakes — we’ve only just started — but I can express my thoughts. And after 5–6 months, I even found a new apartment completely on my own (I arranged viewings, clarified the terms, and discussed everything during the visits!). I’m still shocked myself. My husband was shocked too — when he heard me talking on the phone, he said: “Well, that’s it, you’re basically Serbian already!” It was a difficult journey, but in a short time I achieved exactly what I needed — the ability to handle everyday life in Serbian. Once again, thank you so much! I’m really looking forward to our next lessons. I also have a couple of funny stories — we’ll laugh together. That’s a special kind of joy in our lessons!

Anastasia Yagudina (Russia)

I started learning Serbian with my teacher Slađana in September 2023, and our lessons continued until March 2026. During that time, I came a long way — from a beginner level to successfully passing the B2 Serbian language exam at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade at the end of January 2026.

The lessons with Slađana were always interesting and well organised. We worked on grammar and reading, learned new vocabulary, and talked a lot about everyday topics, the language and culture. This helped me especially to expand my vocabulary and become much more confident when speaking about different topics.

However, after passing the exam, I felt that I had reached a level that was more than sufficient for my everyday life and communication in Serbia. I am very grateful to Slađana for this achievement and for her patience throughout all these years.

During our more than two years of working together, we also had the opportunity to meet each other’s families, which made it genuinely difficult for me to say goodbye when our lessons came to an end.

I have to admit that, besides the lessons, my progress was also influenced by the fact that I had the opportunity to speak with native Serbian speakers at work every day. But a good teacher is still the most important part of that journey. I would recommend Slađana without hesitation to anyone who wants not only to learn Serbian, but also to start using it naturally and confidently.

100 nepravilnih glagola u srpskom jeziku

100 Irregular Verbs in the Serbian Language - First Comprehensive Handbook of this kind

In Serbian, irregular verbs are often confusing – they have irregular conjugation, behave unpredictably, and it is a rare occurrence to be able to find them all in one place.

That is why we created the first and only handbook with the 100 most important irregular verbs – clear, systematic, and with translation in Russian.

With every verb there is:
● Verb aspect (perfective/imperfective)
● Translation to Russian
● Conjugation in present, perfect, future simple and imperative
● Three examples of usage with translation
● Fun facts on every page: idiom, slang, aspectual pair, or a useful phrase

This handbook is intended for those who study Serbian and want a clear structure, struggle with remembering irregular verbs, or like when everything is in one place: forms, translation, and verb usage.

It is also great for those who study independently, want additional material for a course, or desire to know the practical use outside of rulebooks. More so, it is great for Russian speakers who wish to understand the translation and connect it to their language.
